“Taking pictures and leaving footprints”...
I intend to leave a legacy for my family to cherish and understand more about me through my vision of this world where I am but a grain of sand, a fleeting reflection on the water, and where I stand humbled on the shore within its immense nature and stare into the infinite face of God.
I have a need to capture single moments in time as they present themselves before they pass by; it heightens a sense of awareness in me of the raw beauty of our surroundings and the urgency of our existence. It is not to be taken for granted, as it often is, and instead savored for the opportunity we have to marvel in awe at the glorious creations right in front of our eyes. We just have to open our eyes and see, stop, breathe, and really see, where we “are” physically, psychologically, and spiritually at that moment. CLICK, that’s where I come in. If I can help anyone savor their surroundings, find a sense of peace and joy, or provide an emotive vision never seen before - this is what I hope to be able to do.
A first born American from Cuban immigrant parents, I was taught about freedom and photography by my grandfather, a photographer and college professor of language, when I was young. I followed my calling as I continued my education at Lansing Community College (one of the top photography programs in the U.S. at the time). My studies were temporarily halted for 5 years while I battled Leukemia. Afterward, I was fortunate enough to win an international scholarship to attend Savannah College of Art & Design. Eventually, I pursued further interests in visual communication at Michigan State University. I am trained in fine art, portrait, architectural, and commercial photography, as well as advertising, graphic design, photojournalism, and art history. I have traveled extensively in the Great Lakes region mostly, and also along the Florida coast, the Carolina and Georgia coasts, Arizona, California, Maine, Canada, and Brazil.
I am a 5-time survivor of cancer and joyfully continue on to savor the gift of life that I have been fortunate to receive - for as long as it lasts. Moments and instances are fleeting, as is life, and I hope to capture as much of it as I can…CLICK!
